A few minutes by boat from Mabul island lies the Sipadan-Kapalai Dive Resort, a unique resorts sitting on the sturdy stilts on shallow sandbanks in the middle of the ocean.
Diving around Kapalai is exceptionally easy. Most of the dive site are shallow but it present a spectacular experience. The the sandy bottom are home to a variety of amazing array of small, unknown, shamelessly colorful marine life, making the diving here an unforgettable experience for any discerning photographer.
Getting There
By-flight - AirAsia operate daily direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Tawau Airport. Alternatively, you can choose Malaysia Airlines which fly from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu and then get a connecting flight to Tawau.
Once at Tawau, you can hire a taxi to get to the coastal town of Sempurna, which usually takes about 1 hour, followed by a 45 minute speedboat ride to Kapalai.
